I am an accredited Instructor through MHFA England who are the only organisation licenced to run MHFA Instructor Training programmes in England. The programme is accredited by the Royal Society for Public Health.
I have been delivering training for over ten years in a variety of subjects including Children's Safeguarding, Outcome Star and Parental Mental Health.
I attend regular supervision which helps me reflect on my work, thinking about how my personal experiences can impact the work that I do and understand how learners may be affected by course content and how to support them effectively. It also helps me to identify learning needs for myself so my knowledge is up to date.
Our courses are grounded in research and are developed by experts alongside people who have lived experience of mental illness, updated regularly to meet the changing needs of our society.
There is a refresher course available for the MHFA course which is recommended to complete every three years as someone would with a physical first aid course, however this is not mandatory.
You will leave both courses feeling more confident and knowledgeable on mental health, how to support someone in a crisis and how to look after your own mental wellbeing.
If you complete the Mental Health First Aid Training you will be a Mental Health First Aider on completion and you will get access to a three year support package. Please see full course description for further information on the support package.
If you complete the half day Mental Health Aware course or the Refresher course you will receive a certificate of attendance.
The above courses can be delivered in-house to teams of up to 16 people.
Although we are based in Canterbury we will travel to different locations.

The course was fantastic, including lots of in depth discussions on mental health. Jodie led the course at a great pace and I
left feeling confident as a Mental Health First Aider.
This course was an eye opener for me, helping me realise there is a structure on how to approach a mental heath incident.
It gave me insight on how to deal with various types of mental health illnesses and identify symptoms early on.I feel it is a course more people should
take in the workplace, as it broadens one's understanding of mental health and can help them de-stigmatise it. Knowledge is awareness.
Jodie was brilliant, she was patient when our group conversations went off track a bit and we discussed questions and concerns specifically about our workplace. She asked everyone’s names and remembered them, and made sure that everyone worked with everyone. She was kind and approachable and understanding, and made a safe environment for us to learn and work in. The course on a wider scale was so informative and helpful, and I was mostly impressed by its inclusivity of marginalised groups and non-gender specific pronouns for some characters in the workbook
Jodie created such a warm learning environment - it is rare to be able to reflect on our own needs in a group setting. This course covered the basics extremely well and allowed lots of opportunity for feedback and group interaction. I liked that we were put into separate groups for the activities and that the participants in the group changed each time, which allowed for variety. The course workbook is really good as well - it's something that is useful both during and after the training. It can be challenging to create a warm and interactive leaning environment in a virtual setting but Jodie did this brilliantly. Thank you very much for the excellent session.
Very interesting course and with great skills to take away and put into practise. I found Jodie engaging and extremely knowledgeable.
The course was a fantastic learning opportunity and Jodie made the entire process engaging and interesting. I really appreciated how the skills we were taught were contextualised in each section, and the emphasis on applying those skills being on a case by case basis rather than being hard and fast rules. My one aim for the course was to come out of it more confident in my ability to help people in the right way and I feel ready to being my path as a Mental Health First aider. Thanks so much Jodie, you were fantastic!
I found the course extremely interesting and i feel i have gained so much more knowledge and insight into mental health issues and how best to deal with them.I have been given good advise on how to introduce mental health awareness into the company. The course was a very relaxed environment, Jodie encouraged us to interact and share our knowledge and experiences as a group in a comfortable way and without pressure.Overall i felt the course has given me the confidence to deal with such a sensitive subject. Thank you Jodie.
Jodie is a great instructor for this course, she actively listens to all views and different opinions and is always happy to elaborate on any topic or point of conversation. I was impressed with the diversity of the activities which meant participants remained engaged throughout.
Jodie did a wonderful job. She is knowledgeable, professional, approachable, and friendly.
Great course, delivered with great care through this very tough subject.Lots of information on hand and lots more reading up to be done to further my knowledge.Thank you Jodie you made me feel at ease.
"Invaluable course providing excellent insight which will help me in my home and work life"
